The Commonwealth games are a multi-sports circumstance which was conceptualized in 1891 by Astley Cooper as a Festival that brings all commonwealth nations together at one platform. In its initial initiate this mega circumstance based on sporting, military and literary events brings all commonwealth nations at a single platform in order to develop closer ties among them.

The 19th version of this mega sports is scheduled to be held in New Delhi, the top municipality of India between 3 October and 14 October 2010.

The 2010 Formula One season is just around the corner. Major changes have been made again as the sport continues trying to work out a way to be more exciting. For the first time in a very long time, the championship has a new scoring system that tries to emphasize winning.
After much gnashing of teeth, it appears as though the FIA and teams are about to agree to a final scoring system that is dramatically different than what we’ve had, but will meet everyone’s needs. The system will expand to give points to the top 10 finishers instead of the top eight. However, the difference between the points earned for a win, second and third place will be dramatic. The proposed scoring system from winner on down to tenth is 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1. The seven point difference between first and second certainly creates motivation to move forward at the end of the race.

There is one aspect of this scoring system that many are not discussing. It heavily rewards reliability. If you did not finish a race during the 2009 season, the most points you could lose would be 10. Now, the 25 point loss is substantial and particularly so when a team gets off to a very slow start like Ferrari and McLaren did in 2009. If this scoring system had been in place in 2009, Jenson Button would have had something like 150 points by the end of the fifth race with nobody really within 100 points!

With the Devils and Penguins leading the Division with 28 points, the Flyers, Rangers and Islanders are all tied with 23. With that being said the whole division is only separated by five points.

All though we are only a quarter of the way through the NHL season, if it would end today the whole division would make the playoffs along with the North East Division leader Buffalo Sabers and the South East Divisions Washington Capitals.

The Stanley Cup champs picked up where they left off by winning it all last season they started this season off at 9-1. They lost E. Malkin for a few games and hit a skid but got back on the winning track with him back in the lineup winning their last two and hold that top spot with Devils with a 14-7 record.

The Rangers who started off the season hot at 7-1 have cooled off as of late since. Even though the Rangers have been on the losing side of their games of late they’ve been in all of them. Lead by M. Gaborik with 27 points he is currently in second place in the league lead for points over all with 15 goals and 12 assists. If the Rangers can get the rest of their guys going and stay healthy they will be a threat as well.

In a nutshell this division could be up for grabs, but at the moment the Penguins, Flyers and the Devils look to be the tuffest. With the Rangers and Islanders right there this will be an interesting race to watch as it unfolds. It’s very tuff to pick one but you really can’t deny the debth of the defending champs team.

After the Rangers fell into a 2-0 hole early in the game it looked like it would be another disappointing night for the team who donned a 4-9 record over the last thirteen. As talked about in my last article (”Rest don’t help the Rangers”) why don’t we ever get the breaks? Did we get breaks in this one? Or were they hard earned goals? I would have to say heard earned goals, wow. We actually worked hard for the puck and put pucks toward the opponents goal.

With Brian Leetch in the building the next Ranger goal looked like it was Brian on the ice. But it was Ranger rookie defensenmen Michael Del Zotto. Scoring on a Leetch type rush Del Zotto ripped one home for a 3-2 Ranger lead that made even Brian smile as the camera focused on him after the goal. 3-2 Ranger lead after one.
Positives to take out of this game? Yes a few. Once again Gaborik did his thing but more important Rangers finally got some secondary scoring. They got scoring from their two young defensemen Del Zotto and Gilroy and that’s great if the defense can contribute to a team that is struggling to score besides Marian. It’s their forwards that need to score, and Avery got two tonight as Artem Anisimov put home the other.
